How did this happen then?
I seem to have created this blog by accident, or at least partially so.
Having stumbled upon an interesting site I ventured to leave a comment, a question actually, about somewhere I'd just been reminded of.In order to leave my question I was asked to register. No problem there I thought. Like so many people now, I keep files of email addresses and passwords handy for all manner of sites that require to know my personal details before granting access; online newspapers, shops, messageboards, they all want to know that my intentions are honorable before letting me in, which of course they are...mostly. Naturally I never check the mail delivered to these addresses,I simply abandon the cyberjunk sent there and move on to create new, less cluttered mailboxes allowing myself virtual elbow room.
As I registered to leave my query it became obvious that rather than simply being asked for my details in order to trace the source of the comment I was about to post what I was actually being asked to do was create a blog of my own. As I was already more than halfway through the process I ploughed on, and Hey Presto...here we are!
So why Scotlandica? I have to own up it's a complete rip-off. It was the Zetlandica blog that I was going to be commenting on. So when I was asked for a username I just came up with Scotlandica. In my defense, at that point I didn't know that it was going to be the title of my own site. It could have been a lot worse though. Living in Ross-shire I might have frivolously typed Easter Rossica. Or even East Erotica if I'd been in a hurry. Now that would have been a different kind of site altogether!
Why not post using my own name? Oh come on! Made up names are much more fun. This was nearly going to be hosted by Duncan Frapples, but my old favorite Ajax MacKindlers won through.
So here we are, and I do faithfully promise to post irregularly over the days, weeks and who knows maybe even months that follow. Or at least until I forget my password, which is always a problem. If you were paying attention at the start of this post then you'll understand why!
